One of my main tasks is the quantification of the expression of different proteins in cells, which means using a computer program to distinguish cells by three different types of markers: one dye (DAPI) is used to locate the nucleus by intercalating itself in the DNA, an antibody is used to identify cancer cells, and an antibody to detect post-translational modifications (such as phosphorylation). The main goal of this project is to determine whether specific post-translational modifications are associated with disease outcome.
